Rampur: Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam appeared in the special court for MPs and MLAs on Monday in "fake birth certificate" and "two PAN cards" cases.
Assistant prosecution officer Neeraj Kumar Singh said that the court summoned Ajay Kumar, manager of State Bank of India, Rampur branch, in the two PAN cards case, and Manoj Pathak, principal of Saint Paul's public school in the fake birth certificate case as witnesses.
“In both the cases, the witnesses’ statements have been recorded and the court has deferred their cross examinations for the next date of the hearing," Singh said.
The court has fixed May 21 for the next hearing in the fake birth certificate case, and May 24 in the two PAN cards case.
BJP leader Akash Saxena, who had initially filed an FIR in the matter with Ganj police station, was also present during the hearing along with his lawyers.
According to the FIR lodged in 2019, the complainant had alleged that SP leader Azam Khan and his wife had got a fake birth certificate issued for their son Abdullah Azam. Later, an inquiry by the district administration also found out that Abdullah was in possession of two PAN cards.
